These quilts have been designed to play with a concept, try a more complex or simple idea from the pattern, but always done with a specific design intent to explore. The ideas can begin from a design on something that I may have seen in my travels, something in an art gallery or museum, a memory, or even a photograph. I have returned again and again to several themes in these works including, spirals, wave, circles and curves. With every quilt a new idea has been explored, simply by answering the question, …. What if? What if I changed this shape? What if I made this smaller? Or bigger? Or a different colour combination?

Nautilus, Firestorm and Vortex were made over a 5-to-6-year period and were a part of the spiral series, which I then went on to develop the waves series (Oscillation, Wrought, and Banksia).
